Works are intended to increase the global stability of the hill of Wadi Adai where an electric pylon is located at the top. In fact it was proved that the pylon block had high susceptibility for sliding during excavation works for Wadi Adai Interchange.

The intervention involved two phases:

Phase 1 – Local solution for strengthening foundation. – Micro piling around each of the four foundations of the pylon. 18 micropiles were executed; as support to a concrete slab embracing the top part of the micropiles and the pylon leg.

Phase 2 – Global stability of the Hill – Increasing the stability of the hill by means of 152 micropiles, forming three arcs shape located on the southern side of the hill, micropiles joined at the top by mean of three concrete beams.

For both phases all micropiles were bored and cast in situ and reinforced with a steel pipe over a length of 18 m.
